School Bus Safety Critical as Students Return to School
August 18, 2016
The beginning of a new school year can be an exciting and overwhelming time for many kids. Preparing your children for new classes, new teachers, catching up with old friends and discovering new friends can be just as exciting for parents.
But before you send them back to the classroom, it’s important to take a moment to refresh your kids on school bus safety tips.
Here are a few easy tips from the National Safety Council that every parent should share with their child:
- Stand away from the street and avoid roughhousing or playing at the bus stop
- Once on the bus, be sure to keep the aisle clear of books, bags, etc.
- Do not distract the bus driver
- Use the handrail when getting on or off the bus
- Do not cross in front of the bus until the driver tells you it’s OK
