Corey was pursuing a career in English Literature prior to changing his path to the legal field. Since pivoting, he has accumulated experience in many areas of the law and applies all of the knowledge he has gained to the personal injury industry.
Corey has been an avid reader throughout his life and continued interest in the English language as a whole. After high school, Corey decided to attend Middlebury College in Vermont. While there, he majored in English Literature, and upon graduation, received a Bachelor of Arts degree. After college, Corey decided he wanted to continue his education in the field, and went on to attend the University of New Hampshire, where he received his master’s degree in English Literature. Following that, Corey did four years of doctoral work at the University of Kentucky, in an attempt to enhance his knowledge in the field. While pursuing a doctoral degree, he also worked as an English Literature instructor on campus. Prior to completing his doctorate, Corey realized that a life in academia was not for him, which was when he figured out his true passion was in the legal field.
After leaving the University of Kentucky and changing his path, Corey attended Emory University School of Law in Atlanta and graduated with honors, earning his Juris Doctor degree.
Throughout his career in law, Corey has worked in different ranges of legal fields. He has experience in criminal law, as both prosecution and defense. He has also practiced in civil law with the Legal Aid Society. While there, he handled a variety of legal issues for individuals who did not have the resources to hire and pay for an attorney themselves. He also worked as a Staff Attorney for multiple judges.
All of Corey’s experience led him to Hughes & Coleman to practice personal injury law! One of our favorite things about Corey is the excitement he shows; he is eager to fight for our clients who have been injured through no fault of their own, and who desire nothing more than the justice that they deserve. Corey has the skills and the determination that our team prides itself on, and is it shown in the way he advocates for clients who have been injured due to someone else’s negligence.
When not in the office, Corey enjoys reading, watching some TV, and hanging out with his dog.
